Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which GameAssist and the GTA 6 Map community platform (“gta6map.xyz”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) collect, use, maintain, and disclose information collected from users of this website and associated interactive mapping services.
1. Non-Affiliation & Publisher Notice
gta6map.xyz is an independent, community-driven cartography and research resource dedicated to documenting speculative and confirmed geographic details for upcoming gaming titles. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, or any of their subsidiaries. All trademarks and registered trademarks belong to their respective owners.
2. What We Collect & How Your Data Is Handled
We design our map with user privacy, transparency, and data minimization in mind. You can freely explore the interactive map, research locations, and view community guides without registering or providing personal details.
Depending on how you interact with our platform, data is handled transparently as follows:
- Device & Map Preferences (Local Browser Storage): Your day-to-day viewing preferences (such as your chosen map layer, viewport camera coordinates, audio toggles, filter states, and temporary personal waypoints) are saved directly in your web browser. This ensures immediate, zero-latency loading on repeat visits without transmitting your day-to-day navigation preferences over the network.
- Account Authentication via Discord: If you choose to sign in using Discord, authentication is managed via Discord’s official OAuth2 protocol. We collect only your public Discord User ID, username, and avatar URL to identify your account and associate your contributions. We never request, receive, or store your Discord password, private messages, email address, or server memberships.
- Supporter Vault & Payment Processing (Polar): If you support the project or acquire digital token bundles, all billing and checkout transactions are conducted through Polar (polar.sh), our authorized Merchant of Record. Polar collects and securely processes payment card information under PCI-DSS certified standards. GameAssist never receives or stores your credit card details or financial credentials. We receive only transaction status notifications (order ID, supporter status, and purchased token tier) to credit benefits to your account.
- Real-Time Collaborative Synchronization & Cloud Storage: When you use our collaborative workspace tools—such as proposing map coordinates, drafting wiki dossiers, voting on community submissions, or unlocking supporter rewards—that content is securely synchronized and stored across our distributed cloud database infrastructure. This real-time synchronization allows your contributions and unlocked perks to remain available across all your devices and be reflected instantly for collaborating community members.
- Network Security & Anti-Abuse (Cloudflare): To protect our community platform against automated scrapers, DDoS disruptions, and abusive requests, standard anonymous network metadata (including IP addresses, browser user-agents, and request timestamps) is processed at our edge network by Cloudflare.
3. Google AdSense & Advertising Cookies
To keep this platform free and accessible to the gaming community, we display advertisements provided by third-party advertising partners, primarily Google AdSense.
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve advertisements on our website:
- Google’s use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partner ad networks to serve personalized ads to users based on their prior visits to this website and other sites across the Internet.
- Users in jurisdictions with applicable privacy frameworks (including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland) are presented with a consent management mechanism to choose between personalized and non-personalized advertising.
- Opt-Out Mechanisms: You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s official Ad Settings page:
4. Cookies and Web Beacons
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. In addition to advertising partners, we may use essential cookies and session tokens strictly necessary for website security, load balancing, and anti-abuse verification (such as Cloudflare network security).
You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you disable cookies, some interactive features of the map and workspace editor may not function optimally.
5. European Economic Area (EEA) & GDPR Rights
If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you possess specific statutory rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). These include:
- The right to access, rectify, or request deletion of personal information we maintain about you.
- The right to restrict or object to the processing of your data.
- The right to data portability.
- The right to withdraw consent for personalized advertising at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected].
6. California Consumer Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, request its deletion, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We do not sell personal identification information. Third-party advertising partners may collect identifiers (such as cookie IDs) to deliver relevant ads as described above. You may exercise your right to opt out through the opt-out links provided in Section 3.
7. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)
Our website is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so we can promptly remove it.
8. Data Security and External Links
We employ commercial encryption standards (HTTPS/TLS) across our entire infrastructure. However, no transmission method over the Internet is 100% secure.
Our pages and map markers may contain external links to third-party sites (e.g., community video breakdowns, official Rockstar news). We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. When we make updates, the “Effective Date” at the top of this page will be revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically to remain informed about our data protection practices.
